Cave Site Information Print

Cave Name:   Cathedral Cave
Reference:   2WE-1
Cave Area:   Wellington
Description:   Spacious deep cave with large chamber. In the main lake a tight hole leads to a large room with a large stalactite. A lead behind the stalactite goes for approx 10m before coming up into a vertical fissure with a lake above and solution tubes heading upwards from there. A second lake is situated behind the lake viewing area. A tight restriction has to be negotiated before dropping down into a bell chamber with a smal lake in it. The bell chamber continues down under the water to 7m where it chokes in mud and silt against the rock wall sloping down in the direction of the main lake.
